Dan Kildee to undergo surgery for cancer, Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee reveals he has been diagnosed with a “serious but curable form of cancer” on Friday.
According to Kildee, doctors discovered a tumor in one of his tonsils and diagnosed him with squamous cell carcinoma, which was detected at an early stage. He will undergo surgery in a few weeks to remove it. Kildee expressed confidence, stating that “the prognosis after surgery and treatment is excellent.”
However, doctors advised him that recovery from surgery could take several weeks. Kildee’s office will remain open during his absence from Congress. The Flint-area Democrat has served in the U.S. House since 2013 and represents Michigan’s 8th Congressional District, which includes Flint. He sits on the House Ways and Means committee and the Budget Committee.
